Arrows of Night, Arrows of Light
Every life is shaped by forces you cannot see.
Some arrows wound. Fear. Rejection. Shame. Comparison. They strike quietly, burying themselves in the soul long before their damage shows on the surface. Others heal. Truth. Forgiveness. Wisdom. Redemption. They pierce the darkness and rebuild what pain tried to destroy.
In Arrows of Night, Arrows of Light, ordained minister and global health leader Kenety S. Gee names sixteen of these invisible forces and shows you how to tell them apart — and how to choose which ones you let define you.
Drawing on Scripture, years of pastoral ministry across Chicago and Monrovia, and hard-won personal reflection, Gee walks you through the arrows of night that wound, weaken, and derail a life, then into the arrows of light that heal, restore, and redirect it. Along the way, you'll meet Joseph, Paul, and other biblical figures who faced their own invisible battles and came through changed rather than broken.
This is not a book of easy answers. It's a map for anyone who smiles in public but fights a quieter war within — a guide to naming what's shaping you beneath the surface, confronting it with truth, and stepping into the identity and purpose it was never meant to steal from you.
The night is real. But it is never final.

Generational Shift
★★★★★
Africa stands at a defining moment in its history. Across the continent, we are confronted by the realities of both profound challenges and boundless opportunities. As the world rapidly evolves, Africa’s response must be equally dynamic, driven not by the echoes of outdated mindsets, but by a bold embrace of new ideas that reflect our current realities and future aspirations.
Generational Shift: Shift Mindsets, Break Cycles and Build a Sustainable Future (And Embrace new Ideas for Africa’s Growth), is a passion project, born out of a deep desire to see Africa flourish, not just in potential, but in reality. This book reflects on the historical patterns and inherited mindsets that have constrained progress for generations. At the heart of this work is a call to action for a new generation—a generation that must be willing to question, challenge, and ultimately break free from the cycles that have held us back.
The journey of writing this book has been fueled by a love for Africa and a hope that its children, both at home and in the diaspora, can come together to envision better lives now and enact a future of true independence, prosperity, and inclusion. Summoned by the wisdom of our forebears and the dreams of our children, let this generation unite to shape better lives in the present and walk boldly toward true freedom and self-determination. The book delves into critical issues such as brain drain, capital flight, trade deficits, social justice, and the power of aspirational thinking, while also offering pathways and principles that can guide us toward an Africa where every individual has the opportunity to thrive.

My friend, Kenety S. Gee, writes this book not just as a reflection on the present, but as a bridge to the future. Each chapter serves as a beacon–an invitation to explore, rethink, and reimagine. We must move beyond external dependencies and outdated loyalties and embrace a vision that fosters self-reliance, innovation, and interconnectedness within the global community.
